Introduction

I qualified as a Registered General Nurse in 2006. In the years following qualification I worked in contraception and sexual health services, and from 2011 to 2017 I held the role of Community Matron. In 2017 I moved into the area of GP practice as an Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP). In this role I was responsible for managing my own case load of patients, holding minor illness clinics which included initial history taking, clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment and evaluation of care. Other responsibilities included carrying out home visits, telephone triage and managing and prescribing medication within my scope as an Independent Nurse Prescriber. I have a particular interest in contraception and sexual health, and as part of this I ran Long-Acting Reversible contraceptive (LARC) clinics.

In 2022 I qualified as an Advanced Clinical Practitioner (ACP), having completed an MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice. This enables me to work at a more advanced level. I am currently an Advanced Clinical Practitioner/nurse manager for Spirit Primary care at Brownsover Medical Centre, in addition to the responsibilities I held as an ANP, I also initiate contraception and HRT and fit contraceptive implants and coils. I manage mental health and anxiety for all ages and conduct minor surgery.

During my career I managed the National Chlamydia Screening Programme for approximately 5 years. I have successfully integrated the National Chlamydia Screening Programme within a sexual health service. I have been involved in the tender process of the sexual health service, where I worked closely with commissioners following a successful tender process and I continued to support the general manager, business manager and peers to implement a new model for the service.

Whilst working in General Practice I have really challenged myself and developed extensively into a competent ANP and now ACP.   I really enjoy change management and the development of services and take great satisfaction working on strategic and operational management, as it provides me with the opportunity to advance my professional learning and development and develop my negotiating skills.

In addition to my ACP role I am also qualified in Aesthetics - I provide Botox (including its use for hyperhidrosis) and other anti-wrinkle treatments and fillers (including jawlines), and minor surgery (including mole, skin tag and cyst removal), hay fever injections, mesotherapy, plasma and fat dissolving injections, Saxenda weight loss injections, and B12 injections mainly for professional menopausal ladies. I also work in the out of hours service at weekends, ether providing telephone triage or seeing patients who have attended for face to face appointments.

I accept instructions from both claimant and defendant solicitors and insurers. I have undergone formal training in the medico-legal process and am fully aware of my responsibilities under Civil Procedure Rules (CPR) pertaining to expert witnesses.
