Introduction

I qualified as an Occupational Therapist in 1998 and specialised in the field of adult physical disability including trauma and orthopaedics, learning disability, care of the elderly, general surgery, neurology and hand therapy. I have experience in neuro-rehabilitation working with individuals who have experienced neurological conditions or injuries, with a focus on promoting functional independence, addressing cognitive impairments, and facilitating community reintegration.

Since 2006, I have gained extensive experience working with older people, adults and children, in social care. I have worked with clients with amputations following injury, infection and medical conditions, and clients with musculoskeletal and neurological conditions/ injury. I have considerable experience in assessing complex care needs of individuals, assistive technology, adaptations, and specialist equipment promoting individuals’ independence and safety in their homes and community living.

Since 2016 I have gained experience in working with people with visual and hearing impairment that have unique needs, challenges, and goals. By assessing visual and sensory function in activities of daily living, client centered goals are agreed followed by a personalised intervention plan that incorporates adaptive strategies, skill training, telecare/ assistive technology, and environmental adaptations.  Registration and signposting to various organisations including the RNIB promotes individuals’ independence and social engagement in their community.

I have developed a particular interest in dementia care, using a personalised strength-based approach that assesses and addresses client’s unique needs and goals, to maintain or improve their ability to perform daily activities for as long as possible. I have implemented cognitive rehabilitation and sensory stimulation techniques, promoting client’s engagement, enhancing functional abilities, maintaining their dignity, and improving their quality of life.

I maintain my knowledge and skills in housing and adaptations through membership of special interest groups and training. I maintain clinical practice through current and private work.

I have management and leadership experience developing services and leading teams. I have supported quality assurance of individual and teams’ performance indicators to deliver organisational statuary requirements. I am a DoLS authoriser for my local authority.

I am fluent in Urdu, Hindi and Mirpuri.

I accept instructions from both claimant and defendant solicitors and insurers. I have undergone formal training in the medico-legal process and am fully aware of my responsibilities under Civil Procedure Rules (CPR) pertaining to expert witnesses.
