Introduction

I qualified as an Occupational Therapist in 2011 and have gained specialist experience in mental and physical health conditions. In particular, I have extensive experience in the assessment and treatment of chronic fatigue, chronic pain, anxiety, grief, stress, depression, pain, and addiction. I also have extensive experience of working with individuals with complex and chronic mental health issues such as; emotional trauma, bipolar, schizophrenia, personality disorder, depression and eating disorders. I have worked in senior positions supporting individuals in acute inpatient care back to their lives in the community.

I work as a case manager and maintain a caseload of individuals presenting with a variety of different needs. A key aspect of my role is setting up and monitoring care / rehabilitation packages for clients with diverse, complex and multiple pathological presentations. I also provide an occupational therapy service to an alcohol and drug rehabilitation unit in Glasgow & oversee the clinical supervision of junior / student OT staff. I also act as a freelance external consultant on clinical cases with a high degree of complexity that are difficult to treat in statutory services.

I developed and enhanced my treatment skills by attending Dr Sue Pemberton’s Masterclass Assessing and Treating Fatigue: Skills and Strategies for Occupational Therapy Practice, which has enabled me to develop and deliver person centred treatment/rehabilitation programmes in a one-to-one setting as well as group settings.  As a qualified Pilates and Yoga Instructor this has enhanced my OT movement analysis and my understanding of biomechanics and anatomy, allowing me to add therapeutic movement, assessment, and meaningful activity to help clients function more effectively in their daily lives.

As a highly experienced practice educator. I have since maintained my link with the university and have been invited as a guest lecturer to present on the MSc Occupational Therapy Mental Health module on several occasions, and currently act as an external marker for both the MSc and BSc Occupational Therapy courses. I have guest lectured to several Universities across the country on OT programmes and I also work as a freelance external clinical supervisor.

I accept instructions from both claimant and defendant solicitors and insurers. I have undergone formal training in the medico-legal process and am fully aware of my responsibilities under Civil Procedure Rules (CPR) pertaining to expert witnesses.
