Introduction

Since qualifying as an Occupational Therapist in 2007, I have worked within the NHS specialising in acute adult physical disability including general medicine, orthopaedics, surgery, and care of the elderly. I developed a particular interest in orthopaedics (trauma and elective) and surgery, and since 2009 have worked in this field across acute general, major trauma and tertiary hospitals as a senior Occupational Therapist. As such, I have extensive experience in the acute assessment and treatment of clients including, but not limited to, those who have undergone general and vascular surgery, lower limb amputations, fractures and major joint arthroplasties.

I am passionate about delivering high standards of care and strive to support my staff to achieve this in my current role as the Head of Occupational Therapy at an NHS Hospital Trust. This involves supporting them clinically and contributing to our teaching programme. In addition, I contribute to the complex case reviews of surgical patients as part of a clinical senior leadership team.

As an active member of the Royal College of Occupational Therapists, I currently chair the National Executive Committee for the Trauma and Musculoskeletal Health specialist interest group, enabling clinicians to share knowledge and best practice across the UK.

I accept instructions from both claimant and defendant solicitors and insurers. I have undergone formal training in the medico-legal process and am fully aware of my responsibilities under Civil Procedure Rules (CPR) pertaining to expert witnesses.
