Introduction

I qualified as an Occupational Therapist in 2010 and since then have specialised in the area of neurology; in particular brain injury. I have considerable experience in physical, sensory and cognitive rehabilitation as well as vocational rehabilitation. I am confident with posture and seating, splinting of the upper limb and upper limb sensory and cognitive assessments and treatment. I have further specialised in cognitive rehabilitation and have used these skills within many client settings to identify and analyse cognitive impairments in order to best provide education, treatment and cognitive strategies. I am experienced in setting up rehabilitation programmes to help clients return to work, including liaising with employers to explain impairments and possible changes to work duties. I am competent supporting clients to access the community, make recommendations for home adaptations and with supporting leisure and social activities. I also have experience in recommending care packages and equipment.

I have worked in a variety of NHS hospital and community settings, working with a variety of patient's with neurological conditions. In 2018, I commenced work with Laura Slader Neurological Occupational Therapy Ltd working with clients who have medico legal cases, where I complete thorough assessments and write comprehensive reports. I am adept at communicating with solicitors and other members of the multi-disciplinary team and can communicate complex information. I maintain my knowledge and skills through regular clinical work and attend training courses.

I am a highly skilled and competent neurological occupational therapy clinician. My experience enables me to make accurate judgements and provide advice to all legal and medical parties about a client’s needs and future prognosis.

I accept instructions from both claimant and defendant solicitors and insurers. I have undergone formal training in the medico-legal process and am fully aware of my responsibilities under Civil Procedure Rules (CPR) pertaining to expert witnesses.
