Introduction

I am a registered nurse with 18 years experience delivering high standards of care in the critical care setting. I can effectively assess and manage acutely unwell patients with multi-organ disfunction, using a systematic approach to care.

My skills include airway safety and management including tracheostomy care, assessment of invasive cardiac output studies with titration of complex drug infusions. Cannula insertion and management and phlebotomy. Initiating renal replacement therapies and ongoing management of patients receiving renal replacement. In addition, I am also proficient in complex wound management, pressure ulcer risk assessment and management. Undertaking falls assessments and implementation of preventative measures. Insertion of nasogastric and nasojejunal tubes and the ongoing management. Competent in the care of the unconscious intensive care patient and high dependency patient, through to patients who are ready for discharge.

I have years of experience with not only direct patient care but managing a multidisciplinary team. I have a strong understanding regarding standards of care and have an active role in ensuring all aspects of clinical governance are maintained. I have a passion for improving patient safety by reviewing all adverse events and clinical incidences, using a systematic approach to case reviews and route cause analysis. My work in improving patient safety was recognised in 2022 by the Healthcare Quality Improvement Partnership, for which I was nominated and won a national award.

I accept instructions from both claimant and defendant solicitors and insurers. I have undergone formal training in the medico-legal process and am fully aware of my responsibilities under Civil Procedure Rules (CPR) pertaining to expert witnesses.
