Critical Care including tracheostomy care, pressure ulcer risk assessments and cannulation

I am a registered nurse with 19 years’ experience delivering high standards of care in the critical care setting. I can effectively assess and manage acutely unwell patients with multi-organ disfunction, using a systematic approach.

I have years of experience with not only direct patient care but managing a multidisciplinary team. I have a strong understanding regarding standards of care and have an active role in ensuring all aspects of clinical governance are maintained. I have a passion for improving patient safety by reviewing all adverse events and clinical incidences, using a systematic approach to case reviews and route cause analysis.

My range of experience/skills includes:
• Airway safety and management of endotracheal and tracheostomy tubes.
• Insertion and on-going care of nasogastric and nasojejunal tubes.
• Cannula insertion and ongoing care of peripheral and centrally inserted invasive lines.
• Phlebotomy.
• Recognition and management of infiltration and extravasation injuries.
• Administration of intravenous medications and infusions.
• Management of continuous haemodialysis.
• Wound categorisation assessment and complex wound management.
• Undertaking fall risk assessments.
• Epidural care.
• Prone positioning.
• Caring for the unconscious patient.
• Clinical incident investigations.
• Clinical audit and quality improvement programme lead.
• Principle investigator for a research project.

I have also won the following awards:
• 2024 Outstanding contribution to patient safety, East Kent University Hospital Foundation Trust
• 2024 Best managed audit programme, Clinical Audit Symposium, East Kent University Hospital Foundation Trust
• 2022 Improvement in patient safety award, Healthcare Quality Improvement Partnership (HQIP)

I accept instructions from both claimant and defendant solicitors and insurers. I have undergone formal training in the medico-legal process and am fully aware of my responsibilities under Civil Procedure Rules (CPR) pertaining to expert witnesses.
