Introduction

Since qualifying as a Paramedic in 2013 I have undertaken an MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice (ACP), and another MSc in Psychology specialising in body language and behaviour. I have independent, supplementary prescribing and extensive post registration experience in urgent, acute, and pre-hospital environments.

As an ACP I have significant current and extensive clinical experience working at a senior level, including fully autonomous clinical practice (which includes assessment, diagnosis, treatment, referrals, etc.) together with clinical supervision of nurses, paramedics and junior doctors. I work daily on medical rotas at Middle Grade (Registrar level) in the following areas: acute medicine (in hospital), resuscitation, sepsis, patient deterioration, emergency department (including the resuscitation room), urgent treatment centres, minor illness and injury units, and same day emergency care.

I have also contributed in many different clinical textbooks relating to advanced practice across multiple disciplines including areas such as: physical assessment, history taking, decision making, and acute, emergency and critical care. I hold an academic position within the University of Lincoln where I teach students advanced theoretical and practical knowledge around pathophysiology, assessment, and diagnosis within Advanced Clinical Practice.

My current role is as a Consultant ACP for a Trust in which I have strategical, management, and clinical leadership of a large group of multi-disciplinary clinicians comprising of operating department practitioners, nurses, paramedics, and a pharmacist. This role is significantly clinical working in a clinical and strategical leadership pan-trust exerting systems-wide influence.

I have a medical consultancy business in which I undertake bespoke medical concierge services to the TV/Film industry and high-profile individuals in addition to various locum positions which includes: SpR cover on acute medical wards, GP sessions in out of hours and urgent care centres, GP home visiting for community healthcare services, and as an ACP within Urgent Treatment Centres and Minor Injury Units where I will see, assess, treat, diagnose and refer all undifferentiated patients of every age and with every presentation. Further ad hoc work includes medical repatriation whereby I travel globally to repatriate patients. This involves knowledge and awareness of disease process and recognition of any deterioration, as well as the experience and knowledge to deal appropriately with any incidents.

I accept instructions from both claimant and defendant solicitors and insurers. I have undergone formal training in the medico-legal process and am fully aware of my responsibilities under Civil Procedure Rules (CPR) pertaining to expert witnesses.
