Introduction

I am an NMC registered band 6 clinical midwife, qualified since 2011, with experience in the acute hospital setting. I am a member of the Royal College of Midwives and pride myself in being current and up to date with evidenced based best practice. I have extensive experience of post-registration clinical work; I am competent and confident in all aspects of maternity care having worked extensively within the Day Assessment Unit (DAU/Triage), Birthing Centre (Delivery Suite) and the ante and postnatal wards.

I have the clinical experience as a midwife but also the experience in teaching PROMPT to, and alongside, both my Maternity and Obstetric colleagues. I have been a member of the PROMPT teaching team within my trust since 2016. As a facilitator on the PROMPT training days, it is essential that your knowledge and skills are at a high level and up to date with the most recent evidence based practice. In 2020 I completed the Managing Maternal Critical Care Module at MSc level (at The University of the West of England). This module increased and improved my knowledge of, and skills required to care for, women needing critical care in all settings. It also ensures I was able demonstrate self-direction clinical leadership in decision-making during complex and unpredictable situations. As part of the assignment for this module I had to present a case study from clinical practice that I had been involved in, which included reflective analysis of our own role and level of care as well as critically appraising clinical evidence of aspects of care and treatment in said case.

I accept instructions from both claimant and defendant solicitors and insurers. I have undergone formal training in the medico-legal process and am fully aware of my responsibilities under Civil Procedure Rules (CPR) pertaining to expert witnesses.
