Introduction

I have been a Registered Nurse since 1990 and have spent the majority of my professional career working in a senior management/operations role within the private care sector.  As an experienced care home turnaround nurse and manager, I have a special interest in complex resolution management. I have worked alongside regulatory bodies and safeguarding authorities to achieve safe outcomes where previously highlighted complex and detrimental issues have ensued.

Following working for the NHS, post-registration, I became a Partner/Registered Manager in a care home, providing nursing care to elderly residents. Shortly after, in 1994, I developed the business by setting up a domiciliary care business, providing care to clients in their own homes. As the business developed I became the Director of Operations and oversaw successful growth, becoming a care provider in several Local Authorities.

I have presided over numerous compliance inspections, with a wide variety of complex outcomes, in this ever-increasing regulated sector; experiencing changes from NHS inspections, NCSC, CSCI to CQC. These have included action planning support following statutory warning notices and multiple safeguarding referrals.

I am currently providing general nursing services within the care home sector.

My particular areas of interest include Dementia, Mental Capacity Act, Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards, Medication, Care Records, Accidents/Incidents, Tissue Viability, Pressure Care, Falls, Pain, Infection Control, First Aid, CPR, Health and Safety, Malnutrition, End of Life, Safeguarding of Vulnerable Adults, Mobility, Continence, Cognition, Behaviour, Consent and Capacity, Funding, CQC/Local Authority Compliance, Regulation.

I accept instructions from both claimant and defendant solicitors and insurers. I have undergone formal training in the medico-legal process and am fully aware of my responsibilities under Civil Procedure Rules (CPR) pertaining to expert witnesses.
