I qualified as a nurse in 1999 and have experience of  working in acute, community and primary healthcare settings. My career has focused on primary care where I have gained a significant amount of clinical and managerial experience. I continue to develop my skills and knowledge and practise research based care.

In my current role as an independent nurse I work in a wide variety of care settings including Out of Hours and GP surgeries dealing with minor illness and injury and emergency care. I undertake warfarin dosing and prescribe NOACs for patients who are suitable. I am aware of guidance relating to anti coagulation used in primary care. Quality patient care is at the core of my practice - using Clinical Governance to measure care and to continuously improve care.

My previous experience as an advanced nurse practitioner manager consisted of  working alongside the primary healthcare team to diagnose and treat minor injuries and illnesses, chronic disease management and health promotion. I have experience of seeing all patients in the age spectrum, referring on where necessary to secondary care specialists. Another part of this role was to develop and train healthcare assistants and non clinical staff along with developing clinical triage skills within the practice.

In addition, I have been a Queens Nurse for several years and am active in the Queens Nurse Institute community. I have a special interest in both respiratory care and wound care/leg ulcer management and dermatology. I am undertaking specialist training in dermatology to develop my knowledge base and clinical skills in this area further. I volunteer for a medical charity working at festivals around the UK as an Advanced Nurse Practitioner, which adds a further dimension to my practice.

My experience in primary care and understanding of large organisational change, has developed my communication, patience and understanding of people.

I accept instructions from both claimant and defendant solicitors and insurers. I have undergone formal training in the medico-legal process and am fully aware of my responsibilities under Civil Procedure Rules (CPR) pertaining to expert witnesses.
