I am an experienced Occupational Therapist who has been a practising clinician since qualification in 1994. I have since gained a broad range of experience both clinically and managerially. My main area of expertise is mental health and vocational rehabilitation. I have significant experience working with adults with depression, anxiety, schizophrenia and personality disorders. I also have a wide clinical experience in physical disability including neurology, HIV, orthopaedics, paediatrics and working with upper limb amputees.

I have worked as an independent Occupational Therapist for my own company “Dorset Occupational Therapist” since 2006 working with a range of client groups. I now work solely in this role providing assessments, treatment and specialist reports for clients with a wide range of conditions and needs for medico legal, case management and return to work purposes. I am currently providing assessments for Continuing Healthcare which requires a high degree of assessment skill and detailed and accurate report writing. I also assess clients with physical disabilities recommending equipment and housing adaptations. I provide Occupational Therapy services for Dorset Orthopaedics which is a leading UK company in the provision of prosthetics to amputees of all ages.

I previously worked as Head Occupational Therapist in Mental Health in Dorset for 12 years. In this role I provided leadership for the Occupational Therapy service and developed the vocational service enabling adults with mental health conditions to gain paid work. I also supported those in work to retain their jobs by adapting their environments.

I have lectured at Staffordshire and Bournemouth Universities and have taught at the Recovery Education Centre which is a partnership between Dorset Healthcare Trust and a local mental health charity.

I undertake medico-legal work for Somek and Associates where I accept instructions from both Claimant and Defendant Solicitors and Insurers. I have undergone formal training in the medico-legal process and am fully aware of my responsibilities under the Civil Procedure Rules (CPR) pertaining to Expert Witnesses.
