Upper & Lower Limb Amputation, Multiple Limb Loss & Limb Differences
I am an experienced specialist in amputee care, with over two decades of clinical practice, research, and advocacy. My expertise lies in supporting individuals affected by limb loss and limb difference, working with both adults and children to achieve rehabilitation goals and enhance quality of life. I have a comprehensive understanding of prosthetic rehabilitation, having worked closely with prosthetists and multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal prosthetic fitting and functional outcomes.
Since 2021 I have worked for a private company, Walk:Enabled.CIC, offering services as a physiotherapist specialising in lower limb and movement condition. This role involves working with a wide age range of patients, with upper, lower, or multi limb amputation and limb differences to assess their immediate needs and work towards their rehabilitation goals. In addition to my clinical work I volunteer for the BACPAR executive committee and am currently chair of the committee.
My experience spans private, public, and international settings, where I have worked with complex cases involving limb abandonment and patients who have struggled with rehabilitation after amputation. My approach is patient-centred and holistic, I employ thorough assessments, and evidence-based practices, and ensure the patient reaches independence in daily activities, work, and sports.
My strong clinical background and familiarity with multidisciplinary team collaboration make me confident in contributing valuable insights in legal cases, particularly in areas such as medical negligence leading to limb differences, personal injury, and prosthetic rehabilitation. I bring a wealth of practical knowledge and a passion for advocating for individuals who have experienced limb loss or difference. My ongoing clinical work and professional development through courses, conferences, and leadership roles further support my expertise and readiness to support the legal processes.
I am fluent in Spanish and able to work in Dutch at business level.
I accept instructions from both claimant and defendant solicitors and insurers. I have undergone formal training in the medico-legal process and am fully aware of my responsibilities under Civil Procedure Rules (CPR) pertaining to expert witnesses.
