BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy
Paediatric Neurology: Traumatic Brain Injury, Birth Injuries, Spinal Cord Injury, Orthopaedics
I qualified as a Physiotherapist in 2001 and subsequently have gained a significant amount of clinical experience within the area of paediatrics. I have developed a highly specialised knowledge base and experience of a wide range of developmental, musculoskeletal and neurological conditions.
I have a keen interest in neuroscience and rehabilitation within complex paediatric neurology. Having specialised and worked in this field for many years, I undertake assessments with children with brain injuries either sustained through birth trauma or acquired through a catastrophic event. I have developed post graduate experience in neurological gait analysis, orthotic provision, postural management, equipment, neuro orthopaedics and complex motor disorder, which have further enhanced my knowledge base and skills with complex paediatric neurology.
Recently I worked at the Evelina Children's Hospital, gaining further experience working with the complex motor disorders service and neuroscienes team working alongside paediatric orthopaedic and neurology consultants assessing children with complex neurological disability. I was involved as part of a multidisciplinary assessment team assessing children for Deep Brain Stimulation and Intrathecal Baclofen Therapy. I also have experience with Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy treating children pre and post surgery.
In my career, I have also worked in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Qatar. During my time in the UAE I set up a 'special interest group' and organised the first ever Paediatric Physiotherapy Seminar. In my most recent position in the Middle East, I worked alongside the divisional chief of rehabilitation in Qatar within the Paediatric Rehabilitation Medicine and the Spina Bifida multi - disciplinary clinics.
Since returning to the UK, I have set up my own private paediatric practice - Wanderlust Therapy for Kids. In addition, I also undertake work as a case manager and have been a locum at the Children's Trust in Tadworth, which specialises in the rehabilitation of children with acquired brain injury. I am currently a locum with the Surrey community paediatric physiotherapy team.
I accept instructions from both claimant and defendant solicitors and insurers. I have undergone formal training in the medico-legal process and am fully aware of my responsibilities under Civil Procedure Rules (CPR) pertaining to expert witnesses.
