- Head & Neck and ENT Cancer
- Surgical Voice Restoration
I qualified as a Speech & Language Therapist from University College London in 2008.
I have worked as a senior SLT across many Acute London teaching hospitals and community centres.
I began my career working in adult neurology and ENT caseloads before specialising in Head and Neck Cancer in 2010. Since then have gained significant experience and training in assessing and treating individuals with voice, communication, swallowing and airway difficulties as a result of cancer or benign tumours or trauma in the oral cavity/head and neck region.
I have worked with Head and Neck cancer patients throughout their entire care pathway from the point of diagnosis to rehabilitation and survivorship. I am highly experienced in working with individuals who have undergone chemotherapy and radiotherapy as their primary or secondary treatment.
In 2010 I completed both basic and complex postgraduate training in Laryngectomee and Surgical Voice Restoration (SVR) and in 2011 I took a one year role outside of the NHS to work as clinical advisor for Fannin UK and the Blom-Singer range of speaking valves for the laryngectomy population. Within this role I wrote and delivered national clinical symposiums to Speech & Language Therapists and ENT Consultants in UK on current evidence base within the field of laryngectomy and SVR.
I am a McNiel Dysphagia Therapy practitioner which is currently the only evidence based rehabilitation approach in the Head and Neck population. I am trained to the highest level (level 4) of videofluroscopic examination.
I have acted as a consultant with the UK's leading nutritional supplement companies to develop and improve products for the dysphagia population in accordance with the new international dysphagia diet standardisation initiative (IDDSI).
In 2016 I developed a secondary special interest in articulation difficulties and speech rehabilitation after oral and dental surgery. I have written educational courses on managing articulation disorders which are being delivered across the UK.
I accept instructions from both claimant and defendant solicitors and insurers. I have undergone formal training in the medico-legal process and am fully aware of my responsibilities under Civil Procedure Rules (CPR) pertaining to expert witnesses.
