I am a Specialist Orthotist with over 30 years experience in both the NHS and private practice. My specialist areas include paediatric orthotics, foot and ankle Orthotics, Spinal injuries, knee ankle foot orthotics (KAFO's) and scoliosis (spinal bracing).
Throughout my career I have been instrumental in the development of orthotic devices in a number of areas. I have lectured widely on this subject, including at the International Society for Prosthetics and Orthotics (ISPO) conferences in Chicago and Japan. I have travelled abroad with orthopaedic surgeons to provide services where they do not exist internally. In 2005 I visited Jamaica to give advice on setting up an Orthotic and Prosthetic Clinic and workshops.
I currently have my own private practice and this has been established since 1988. I joined Somek and Associates in 2002 and have written many reports for the Medico–Legal services having been instructed both by Claimant and Defendant, and also as a joint expert. I have undergone formal training in the medico-legal process and am fully aware of my responsibilities under the Civil Procedure Rules (CPR) pertaining to Expert Witnesses.
In addition to this I am often called to hospitals such as The Hospital For Neurology Queens Square London and University College Hospital London to see patients with complex spinal problems following surgery.
I am a state registered Orthotist and also a member of the International Society for Prosthetics and Orthotics and the British Association of Prosthetists and Orthotists
1992 Fellowship of British Institute of Surgical Technologists
1981 Licentiate of British Institute of Surgical Technologist
