I graduated in 2009 from the University of Chester with a BSc in Nutrition and Dietetics. Following graduation I completed a Band 5 rotational job covering a wide range of areas from community GP clinics, home enteral feeding, Diabetes and lipodemia clinics. Within the acute ward based setting my caseload consisted of a rotation of gastroenterology patients, upper and lower GI oncology, elderly care, stroke rehabilitation, acute medical admissions unit and critical care.
I gained a promotion to a Band 6 role working with Enteral and Parenteral nutrition patients mixed with oral nutrition support patients. These patients were seen under the Upper GI and lower GI oncology team and the head and neck oncology pathway. These specialist pathways consisted of patients on the acute ward based setting, critical care and outpatient clinic.
Following a move to London I worked for a short period of time within infectious disease with the acute team on the infectious disease unit and within the outpatient clinic setting.
Subsequently I developed my interest in head and neck oncology and progressed to a Band 7 position within the surgical head and neck oncology treatment pathway. This included covering MDT, acute wards and on-treat clinic. More recently I have become the Head and Neck Oncology Service Improvement Lead within the Sheffield Teaching Hospital trust. This role ensures that patient care is at the centre of both daily caseloads and any service improvements.
During my career, I have always worked as part of a multi-disciplinary team in order to achieve the best outcome for patients. Through this approach to working, I have developed an understanding of the multiple view points of the wider healthcare system.
I accept instructions from both claimant and defendant solicitors and insurers. I have undergone formal training in the medico-legal process and am fully aware of my responsibilities under Civil Procedure Rules (CPR) pertaining to expert witnesses.
