Experienced Emergency Department Nurse, also works in Police Custody Suites

Introduction

I am a highly experienced Emergency Department nurse with extensive expertise in clinical assessment, triage, and the management of acute medical conditions and emergency care. Having worked for many years within a fast-paced emergency setting, I am proficient in caring for patients in an emergency situation.

As an experienced and senior ED nurse, I am required to deliver patient-centred care while adhering to established protocols for critical cases such as sepsis, DKA, and hyperkalemia, ensuring prompt and accurate interventions.

Within my ED role, I am required to provide expert care in wound management, including cleaning, dressing, and follow-up treatment for acute injuries and chronic conditions. I am skilled in executing venepuncture and cannulation. My role includes the administration of IV medications and fluids, while ensuring correct dosage, monitoring for adverse reactions, and maintaining detailed patient records. I am also experienced in performing catheter insertions and providing ongoing catheter care, monitoring for complications and educating patients.

I also undertake triage and nursing care work within Police Custody Suites. As well as undertaking management of acute and emergency conditions, I am also required to manage common musculoskeletal injuries, such as sprains, fractures, dislocations, and soft tissue injuries and am experienced in the assessment and management of minor illnesses and associated patient education.

In additional to my nursing career within the ED setting, I have held the position of a Band 7 senior night sister managing a hospital out of hours and working and supporting the emergency departments. I have also worked as Band 8A as Matron of Gynaecology, managing all Gynaecology departments and championing nurse led services for women’s health. I have also worked in Intensive Care Units gaining specialist skills within a critical care environment, developing skills within ventilation, haemofiltration, cardioversion, as part of advanced life support measures.

As a strong advocate for safety and quality care and a demonstrable successful career I bring a wealth of acute and emergency nursing expertise to my role as an expert witness.

I accept instructions from both claimant and defendant solicitors and insurers. I have undergone formal training in the medico-legal process.
