PGC Amputee Rehabilitation, BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy
Since qualifying as a Chartered Physiotherapist in 2002 from Oxford Brookes University, I have gained experience in all core physiotherapeutic areas. In 2005 I specialised in Musculoskeletal rehabilitation within specific interest in vascular, amputee and orthopaedic rehabilitation.
I am now employed full time as the Clinical Lead Physiotherapist within Vascular and Amputee Therapies at the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust. Within this role I am responsible for the assessment and treatment of a complex mixed inpatient and outpatient, vascular and amputee patient caseload and I also supervise the orthopaedic caseload management and provide input on complex patient cases.
I have held the position of the London and South East BACPAR (British Association of Physiotherapy in Amputee Rehabilitation) regional representative since 2009. Within this role I have presented at National and International BACPAR and ISPO (International Society of Prosthetics and Orthotics) conferences.
In January 2012 I completed my Post Graduate Certificate in Amputee Rehabilitation (PGc) at Bradford University. Currently I am leading on a Clinical Trial investigating the weight bearing pressures exerted on the remaining limb during prosthetic ambulation.
I have worked for Somek and Associates (Medico-Legal consultancy) since 2010. I accept instructions from both Claimant and Defendant Solicitors and Insurers. I have undergone formal training in the medico-legal process and am fully aware of my responsibilities under the Civil Procedure Rules (CPR) pertaining to Expert Witnesses.
