Introduction

I qualified as Registered Nurse in 1989, and since then I have gained experience and held responsibility for managing a number of different departments within the hospital setting including; surgical wards, radiology, high dependency unit, fertility treatment centre, endoscopy unit, outpatients department and theatre. I worked in the NHS till July 1999 and since then, have continued my career in the private hospital setting.

In 2005, I completed an MSc in Human Resource Management and prior and following this I have held a number of senior positions responsible for the recruitment and performance of staff, managing and investigating incidents and complaints, ensuring delivery of safe and consistent services throughout a patient’s journey and ensuring compliance with appropriate regulatory and best practice frameworks including care quality commission standards.

In my current role as Lead Nurse for surgery at the Bupa Cromwell Hospital I provide strong clinical leadership within the surgical directorate which covers AICU, general surgical ward, surgical orthopaedic ward, endoscopy unit and pre-admission clinic.

I am responsible for investigating incidences and complaints, completing root cause analysis as needed and prepare action plans to minimise the incidence of reoccurrence. I am able to provide clinical advice to nurses, doctors and allied healthcare professionals throughout the hospital and maintain a robust clinical governance system to assure patients of the highest standard of care, acting within an assurance framework and meeting regulatory guidelines from the CQC, in collaboration with the Clinical Director and other consultants. I consider my key strengths to be a strong people’s manager, who is very pragmatic in nature, with a calm and open minded approach. I am very much a team player who thrives on striving for high standards of customer satisfaction and enjoys networking at all levels. 

I accept instructions from both claimant and defendant solicitors and insurers. I have undergone formal training in the medico-legal process and am fully aware of my responsibilities under Civil Procedure Rules (CPR) pertaining to expert witnesses.
