DipOT, Msc Cancer Care
I qualified as an Occupational Therapist in 1984 at Liverpool and since 1992, I have predominantly worked in the field of Oncology and Palliative Care at The Royal Marsden Hospital in London and Surrey. I retired from working fulltime in March 2019 and still work 2 days per week clinically at The Royal Marsden.
I have experience in all areas of acute physical medicine and surgery including care of the elderly, general medicine and surgery, stroke rehabilitation, vascular surgery and amputee rehabilitation. I travelled and worked as an OT in New Zealand for 2 years, returning to St George’s Hospital, London.
After 2 years, I chose to specialise in oncology and palliative care in 1992 when the opportunity arose to head up the Occupational Therapy team at the UK’s leading oncology hospital.
In 2008, I was honoured to receive an MBE in H.M. The Queen’s Birthday Honours List for Services to Allied Health Professions in the South East of England. In 2018, I was delighted to be awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award from The Royal Marsden Hospital.
I have served on the committee of the OT specialist section OPC (Oncology and Palliative Care) and at committees at the Royal College of OT and remain an active member of both.
I accept instruction from both claimant and defendant solicitors and insurers. I have undergone formal training in the medico-legal process and am fully aware of my responsibilities under Civil procedure Rules (CPR) pertaining to expert witnesses.
