I am an experienced Occupational Therapist, who has been a practising clinician since qualification in 1979. I have extensive experience of working with clients with physical and mental health conditions, in both hospital and community settings, for both solicitors and insurers, and as an expert witness and a case manager.
I am currently employed in my own company Rehab Options Ltd, which provides vocational case management, to insurance companies providing income protection and permanent and total disability policies. I provide assessments, telephone clinical interventions and vocational case management for a wide variety of adult clients, who have neurological, muscular skeletal, respiratory and sensory impairments, long term progressive diseases, terminal illness and mental health conditions.
The case management aspect of my work includes liaising with different agencies as required, including health and voluntary, and a variety of other personnel including family, employers, therapists, DWP staff etc. Assessments include functional capacity, cognitive impairment, equipment and adaptation needs, job profiling and transferable skills.
I also undertake general case management work via another company, which includes managing varying levels of care plans, from sessional support worker hours to a 24/7 two to one care packages.
I have dealt with clients who have developed a visual impairment as a consequence of another condition, such as head injury, and I have been involved in several complex medico-legal cases related to visual impairment caused by medical negligence.
I accept instructions from both claimant and defendant solicitors and insurers. I have undergone formal training in the medico-legal process and am fully aware of my responsibilities under Civil Procedure Rules (CPR) pertaining to expert witnesses.
