I qualified as a Registered General Nurse in 1986, initially working in intensive care and coronary care. I have specialised in general practice nursing since 1995. My career has been an interesting mix of academia and hands on clinical experience.

My clinical skills are underpinned by a sound understanding of the legal and ethical framework within which nurses must work to ensure safe and effective care. Clinically my strengths lie in the diagnosis and management of minor ailments and triage, including when to refer on and when to prescribe.

I have both taught and applied my learning from continual professional development to a range of areas including prescribing and administration of medication both for long term conditions and minor ailments. Minor Illness areas include ear, nose and throat; dermatology; wound care, respiratory; ocular; urinary tract and minor bowel disorders. My main areas of expertise with long term conditions are asthma and diabetes. I am also competent in immunisations, cervical screening and contraception.

In addition to a wide range of clinical expertise I have excellent written and presentation skills, having studied and taught at Masters level. This has resulted in the development of an enquiring approach and use of evidence to underpin my clinical decision making. I have a passion for excellence in care, and a sound awareness of legal, professional and ethical issues in primary care work

I left permanent employment as a Lead Practice Nurse at Longrove Surgery in 2020 and I continue to undertake regular freelance work for them on a self-employed basis. I currently am employed by Federated 4 Health two days a week as a practice educator in primary care for trainee nursing associates across North Central London.

I accept instructions from both claimant and defendant solicitors and insurers. I have undergone formal training in the medico-legal process and am fully aware of my responsibilities under Civil Procedure Rules (CPR) pertaining to expert witnesses.
