I have been working as an Occupational Therapist in the UK since 2005 in a variety of settings, primarily in physical disability.
I have developed a particular interest in rehabilitation services including wheelchair assessments, static seating and postural management.
During my career I have also gained experience in palliative care, renal failure and transplant, elderly care, rapid response, hand therapy, acute psychiatry, general medicine, orthopaedics and amputees. Many of my previous roles have been within acute inpatient settings, requiring expertise in time management and working efficiently under pressure.
I currently work as an independent occupational therapist and provide community based rehabilitation for clients who have a variety of conditions including, but not limited to, fractures and orthopaedics, amputations, chronic obstructive pulmonary Disease, falls, arthritis and dementia. I am involved in rehabilitation programmes, moving and handling, seating and postural management assessments, identifying short and long term equipment needs and accommodation adaptations.
Throughout my clinical work, I liaise with formal and informal carers, home care agencies and social workers - informing on my assessment findings in order to assist with determining the level of care and assistance required and how this can be provided safely and efficiently.
I accept instruction from both claimant and defendant solicitors and insurers. I have undergone formal training in the medico-legal process and am fully aware of my responsibilities under Civil procedure Rules (CPR) pertaining to expert witnesses.
