Occupational Therapist

Qualifications

BSc (Hons) Occupational Therapy

Specialisms

Brain Injury, Spinal Cord Injury & Major Trauma

Introduction

I graduated from Plymouth University as an Occupational Therapist in 2015. Since then, I have gained extensive experience in neurosciences, including neurosurgery, stroke, early supported discharge team, and neurology. My previous roles outside of neurosciences include trauma and orthopaedics, medicine, community rehabilitation and the emergency department.

I currently work as a Highly Specialist Occupational Therapist and Major Trauma Practitioner at North Bristol Trust. My role includes conducting occupational therapy assessments and providing rehabilitation for patients with complex rehabilitation needs, including physical, cognitive and psychological needs. These patients typically have experienced traumatic or non-traumatic brain injuries and spinal cord injuries. As a major trauma practitioner I contribute to rehab prescriptions, educate patients and their families about their injuries and the impact that their injuries may have on recovery. I also signpost patients and family members to external services and charities. As well as this, I co-ordinate and provide advice on rehabilitation pathways to more junior members of staff.

I possess strong skills in patient assessment, managing complex needs, and conducting rehabilitation. I am dedicated to providing patients with the best possible opportunity to achieve their maximum physical and cognitive potential, thereby enhancing their quality of life and psychological well being. I am committed to ensuring that patients with specialist needs have access to appropriate and specialised rehabilitation services.

I accept instructions from both claimant and defendant solicitors and insurers. I have undergone formal training in the medico-legal process and am fully aware of my responsibilities under Civil Procedure Rules (CPR) pertaining to expert witnesses.
