I qualified as a registered nurse in 1995. I have had numerous roles in my nursing career, both within the NHS and private sector, including specialist nurse, clinical sister, ward/ department manager, clinical quality manager, clinical trainer, operational and business manager.
I am currently working as surgical nurse in a large private hospital which is now designated as a “Green” NHS facility, catering for all essential surgeries for 3 Kent NHS Trusts. I am supporting the National COVID Vaccinating programme in a number of large hubs in Kent at a supervisor level. I also work on a self-employed basis as a Dermatology skin specialist delivering medical and cosmetic aesthetic, non-surgical cosmetic procedures.
As a previous Clinical Quality Lead, I was responsible for ensuring effective governance of all aspects of clinical services and patient activity in collaboration with the Medical Director for all clinics within a partnership. I was a professional advisor to the Medical Advisory Committee and Board on statutory and regulatory nursing, healthcare and clinical issues. This involved compiling compliance reports, clinical incident reports, complaints or serious incidents through to their relevant conclusions.
I have extensive knowledge and experience in ensuring the compliance, competence, training and continuing professional development of all Nursing and Allied health professionals. This work helped to foster a culture which encouraged nurses to be innovative and challenging in the interests of patient care, and to take on professional leadership for the delivery of high standards of care.
As a National Lead, I have had experience of supporting healthcare providers both remotely and face to face while also providing the support and problem-solving experience to improve productivity. In addition, I have knowledge and experience of developing comprehensive overarching policies, as well as local policies and practice frameworks (Standard Operating Procedures, Care Pathways and Audit). I have experience in standardising clinical practice in numerous areas including training and compliance – usage of equipment, competence and SOP; COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health); risk assessments; safeguarding; and medicine management.
I have extensive knowledge and experience preparing and registering companies for the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and ensuring establishments/ organisations achieve compliance/ excellence in all the fundamental standards of care they are registered to deliver.
I accept instructions from both claimant and defendant solicitors and insurers. I have undergone formal training in the medico-legal process and am fully aware of my responsibilities under Civil Procedure Rules (CPR) pertaining to expert witnesses.
