BSc (Hons) Midwifery, Level 7 Fetal Sonographer, MSc Advanced Midwifery
I qualified as a midwife in 2011 and have worked at Colchester Hospital since qualification. My career primarily focuses on the antenatal and intrapartum period in maternity triage and delivery suite. Since qualifying I have worked as a Band 6 and a Band 7 CDS coordinator managing staff workloads, patient safety and acuity, staff and patient expectations and both low risk and time critical midwifery emergencies. I had responsibility of the maternity bleep and was responsible for managing the maternity unit.
I achieved a level 7 qualification in third trimester fetal sonography in 2015 and provided regular fetal surveillance lists at the NHS to the maternity population. I continue to work at a private ultrasound clinic as a Private Sonographer on a weekly basis.
I left the NHS as a contracted role in 2021 and joined the University of Suffolk to be a University Lecturer to teach the BSc (Hons) Midwifery students. I was the Lead Lecturer for the Research Project and Skill teaching, as well as being the lead for admissions and recruitment. Within this profession it is pertinent that all Midwifery guidelines and standards were understood and delivered to be the heart of the midwifery profession to the students. This has strengthened the delivery of my ongoing practice as a bank employee registered midwife.
I accept instructions from both claimant and defendant solicitors and insurers. I have undergone formal training in the medico-legal process and am fully aware of my responsibilities under Civil Procedure Rules (CPR) pertaining to expert witnesses.
