Introduction

I first qualified as a State Enrolled Nurse in 1983 and subsequently qualified as a Registered Nurse in 1992. I have worked as a State Enrolled Nurse in the following areas; district/community nursing, rehabilitation-older people and degenerative conditions (young people), general and vascular surgery. For the last 20 years I have essentially worked in primary care in the field of nursing, rehabilitation, brain injury, intermediate care, and falls services.  I have recently returned to midwifery practice.

In the capacity of General Nurse, I currently work in telephone triage as a clinical supervisor for Dorset Urgent Care Services. I work within the Out of Hours service, Single Point of access and 111 Pathways services.  

Until 2014, I was the senior lead clinician in the operational and strategic development of complex continuing healthcare care for both adults and children. I have a specialist knowledge of continuing and complex healthcare (NHS Continuing Healthcare) with a current, up to date working knowledge and application of the principles and processes of the National Framework for NHS Continuing Healthcare and NHS Funded Nursing care and the NHS Framework for Children’s and Young People’s Continuing care including fast track applications. 

In my commissioning role I utilised a combination of commercial and clinical skills to plan strategically, specify outcomes and procure services, to manage demand and provider performance for all services that are required to meet the needs of all individuals who qualify for NHS continuing healthcare with responsibility for quality monitoring, access and patient experience within the context of provider performance of service specifications and contracts.

In addition to my current work as a midwife and in urgent care services, I continue to undertake complex assessments, case management and care planning commissioning including: appeals, dispute panels and cross agency resolutions in a consultancy role. 
I also work with and support parents of children with complex, palliative or technology assisted needs in both a case management role including procurement of personal health budget to support identified health and well being needs. 

I accept instructions from both Claimant and Defendant Solicitors and Insurers. I have undergone formal training in the medico-legal process and am fully aware of my responsibilities under the Civil Procedure Rules (CPR) pertaining to Expert Witnesses.
