BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy
I graduated from University of Ulster in 1993 and since then have gained extensive experience in a wide range of physiotherapy specialisms, both in the public and private sector. My main area of expertise is the assessment and treatment of individuals with spinal pain however I also have extensive experience in treating the full range of musculo-skeletal conditions.
Prior to opening my own clinic in 2009, and then working full time in private practice, I worked as a Clinical Specialist in Spinal Pain in Musgrave Park Hospital. This role involved working with spinal surgeons and providing assessment and specialist treatment for clients not undergoing spinal surgery and rehabilitation for those patients who had undergone surgery.
During my experience with the Ministry of Defence I was assessing and treating soldiers with the full range of musculo-skeletal conditions and as the only physiotherapist in the medical centre, I was required to work closely with the on-site medic and podiatrist.
I have completed a number of post graduate examinations at The McKenzie Institute and The Society of Orthopaedic Medicine. I am trained in The Maitland Approach, The Bowen Technique, The Use of Acupuncture for the Relief of Pain and The Sarah Key Method. I have since taught the Sarah Key method to GPs and physiotherapists both in Northern Ireland and in Highgrove.
Since 2009 I have worked in private practice and lead a clinic with a team of four physiotherapists and three podiatrists. The aim of my role is to treat and help people better understand their back pain, make significant gains even with chronic pain, and begin to self-manage their condition.
I accept instructions from both claimant and defendant solicitors and insurers. I have undergone formal training in the medico-legal process and am fully aware of my responsibilities under Civil Procedure Rules (CPR) pertaining to expert witnesses.
