Introduction

I currently work in standalone urgent care centres and primary care as an emergency and advanced nurse practitioner.  I am also a Nurse Independent Prescriber. My role utilises expert diagnostic skills & clinical reasoning to provide autonomous, unscheduled care for adults & children presenting with acute undifferentiated conditions, including minor injuries & illnesses, same day emergencies, acute and chronic conditions, and complex health needs. In addition, I continue to undertake clinical work as an advanced nurse practitioner and Nurse Independent Prescriber in primary care utilising my skill set in seeing same day presentations. I also have a diverse & rich experience in expedition/remote health abroad and in homeless inclusion healthcare in London.

I qualified as a Registered Nurse in 1988 and first specialised in the field of in-patient adult HIV-AIDS care (1992-1998) before transitioning to emergency care 2000. I held management and leadership roles in both specialisms. I qualified as an emergency nurse practitioner in 2004 and have since worked in co-located and standalone Urgent Care Centres. 

Between 2004-2007, when working as an emergency nurse practitioner I wrote witness statements for victims of alleged assault cases when requested by the police, which were used to provide evidence of facts to be used in court.

I maintain and refresh my knowledge and skills through reflection, self-directed CPD, attending conferences, face-to-face and online webinars training and updates in topics relevant to Urgent & Primary Care. In 2023 I gained the RCN Advanced Level Nursing Practice (ALNP) Credential. 

I accept instructions from both claimant and defendant solicitors and insurers. I have undergone formal training in the medico-legal process and am fully aware of my responsibilities under Civil Procedure Rules (CPR) pertaining to expert witnesses.
