Having qualified in 1999, I am a confident Specialist Nurse with significant experience in Occupational Health (OH) nursing and hold an MSc in Occupational Health and Safety Management gained at Brunel University.

I am currently a self-employed OH Nurse Adviser with experience of managing teams of OH advisers and providing specialist OH consultancy, and services to a range of workplace settings. My work incorporates both the private and public sectors including the NHS, private health, fire, police, prison and ambulance services, universities and colleges, in addition to manufacturing, construction & demolition, transport, energy and across the service sector.

I am well versed in:

  • Defining the employer’s OH needs for protecting the workforce and meeting the statutory requirements to comply with health and safety legislation and the disability component of the Equality act. This includes OH services of pre-placement screening, management referrals, health screening and surveillance.
  • Providing and supporting the implementation of the required policies and procedures
  • Advising on all aspects of the OH service including OH software needs, analysing, and electronic records consideration.
  • Providing service elements: management, overseeing service delivery on site and remotely, reporting and data analysis.

The Clinical aspects of my role require me to undertake face to face and telephone assessments, provide recommendations regarding fitness to work and advise on return to work in detailed reports. I also liaise with other health professionals as required and provide health screening and administer immunisations.

Being self employed, I am used to presenting to potential clients and my work frequently involves being challenged by employees and their employers.

I accept instruction from both claimant and defendant solicitors and insurers. I have undergone formal training in the medico-legal process and am fully aware of my responsibilities under Civil procedure Rules (CPR) pertaining to expert witnesses.
