Introduction

I qualified as an Occupational Therapist in 2010 in Galway, Ireland and from early in my career I began to specialise in neurology.  Since 2015 I have worked as an independent Occupational Therapist and conduct my private work alongside my NHS role as a  Specialist Occupational Therapist at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery.

I have specialised in neurorehabilitation since 2013 and I have worked with people in a wide range of clinical settings including critical care, acute, inpatient rehabilitation, consortium (level 1) rehabilitation units, community rehabilitation, and outpatient settings.

I have developed specialist skills in rehabilitation with people who have a range of neurological conditions including traumatic brain injury, stroke, major trauma, brain tumours, prolonged disorders of consciousness, and progressive conditions such as multiple sclerosis and motor neuron disease.

I am experienced in working with people with severe and complex physical and cognitive impairment, as well as those who are physically well but cognitive difficulties and fatigue limit their ability to function in daily life or return to work.

Throughout my career, I have undertaken additional training including specialist skills such as Constraint Induced Movement Therapy (CIMT), cognitive rehabilitation in function, Saebo Ltd Rehabilitation, mirror therapy, functional electrical stimulation (FES), thermoplastic splinting, fatigue management, and specialist posture and seating assessment.

I adopt a goal-oriented, practical approach to therapy where intervention is focused on addressing day-to-day difficulties such as dressing, writing, feeding, returning to work, or resuming a valued hobby. As part of my intervention, I am skilled in recommending equipment, adaptations or rehabilitative strategies to help clients achieve greater independence.

I accept instructions from both claimant and defendant solicitors and insurers. I have undergone formal training in the medico-legal process and am fully aware of my responsibilities under Civil Procedure Rules (CPR) pertaining to expert witnesses.
