Jessica Thurston is the Managing Director at Somek & Associates, bringing over 25 years of experience as a Care and Occupational Therapy Expert Witness. She has worked extensively across a broad range of cases involving amputations and specifically multiple limb loss. Jessica is deeply passionate about the independence and integrity of the expert role, advocating for objective, evidence-based reporting. She is a figurehead in the medico-legal field and exemplifies our commitment to shaping the future of medico-legal excellence. She contributes to the renowned ‘Facts and Figures’ tables used in damage calculations and mentors junior experts through training programmes beyond S&A e.g. for the Expert Witness Institute, helping shape the next generation of high-calibre expert witnesses. She also works alongside the Royal College of Occupational Therapy to raise the professional standards of care and OT expert witnesses. Her career has included living and working in Japan, where she developed a lasting appreciation for its culture and language.
