Professional Experience
Since 2018, I have specialised in forensic nursing within police custody suites. I assess detainees for fitness to detain, interview, and release; manage acute medical and mental health presentations; oversee medication administration; and carry out safeguarding responsibilities. I have recently completed specialist training in female forensic examinations, making me one of a limited number of nurses qualified to perform this role within my organisation.
In addition to my forensic work, I continue to practise in emergency and urgent care settings, including NHS A&E departments and Urgent Treatment Centres. I triage adult and paediatric patients, manage minor injuries and illnesses, and perform procedures such as wound care, venepuncture, cannulation, and medication administration. I frequently work night shifts as the sole nurse on duty, operating independently alongside a physician to deliver frontline care.
Between 2020 and 2024, I worked in primary care as a Practice Nurse. This role involved chronic disease management, immunisations for adults and children, cervical screening, and family planning services. I also hold mentor and assessor qualifications and have supported the development of junior staff.
Earlier in my career, I worked in hospital A&E departments in Poland following my qualification as a Registered Nurse in 2007 with a BSc in Nursing, later completing an MSc in 2014. In 2012, I was recruited by the Medical Director of Carnival Cruise Lines, where I served for four years and was promoted to Lead Nurse. My responsibilities included managing acute medical emergencies, coordinating multidisciplinary care, and ensuring clinical governance onboard.
Professional Development
Throughout my career, I have maintained a strong commitment to clinical development and best practice. I regularly undertake shifts in emergency and urgent care settings to ensure my skills remain current and aligned with national guidelines. I also hold mentor and assessor qualifications, supporting the development of junior staff and students.
Medico Legal Experience
I accept instructions from both claimant and defendant solicitors and insurers. I have undergone formal training in the medico-legal process and am fully aware of my responsibilities under Civil Procedure Rules (CPR) pertaining to expert witnesses.
