Professional Experience

Since qualifying as a registered midwife in 2007, I have worked across inpatient and outpatient settings, providing care throughout the childbirth continuum. My clinical expertise lies in high-risk antenatal and labour care, including high dependency. I have held senior roles including Labour Ward Co-ordinator and Matron for Inpatient Maternity Services, where I oversaw antenatal, postnatal, and high-risk labour care, including bereavement services and elective caesarean sections. I have extensive experience in coordinating obstetric-led labour wards, managing acute clinical situations, and supporting multidisciplinary teams. I am proficient in CTG interpretation, perineal repair, IV cannulation, and venepuncture.

I continue to maintain clinical currency through regular shifts as a Band 6 midwife via the staff bank, primarily on Labour and Antenatal Wards. I also have experience in termination of pregnancy services up to the legal limit, including pre- and post-procedure care for both medical and surgical abortions.

Professional Development

My career has included roles in midwifery education and practice development. As a Midwife Practice Educator, I delivered training in perineal repair, IV therapy, medication administration, and obstetric emergencies. I am a faculty member for PROMPT (Practical Obstetric Multi-Professional Training), delivering simulation-based training to hospital staff and pre-hospital clinicians. I have authored and implemented clinical pathways, including during the COVID-19 pandemic, ensuring alignment with national guidance and incorporating learning from incidents, inquests, and litigation. I am experienced in policy development and operational leadership. My people management experience includes performance management, capability processes, and initiating NMC referrals, with attendance at Fitness to Practise hearings as a witness. I maintain my professional development by attending relevant training.

Medico Legal Experience

I accept instructions from both claimant and defendant solicitors and insurers. I have undergone formal training in the medico-legal process and am fully aware of my responsibilities under Civil Procedure Rules (CPR) pertaining to expert witnesses.
