Professional Experience
I qualified as a Registered General Nurse (Adult) in 2003 from St Martin’s College, Lancaster. My early career was in the Accident and Emergency Department at Edinburgh Royal Infirmary, including a secondment to the Combined Assessment Unit, managing acute medical, surgical, psychiatric, and social presentations.
I progressed into primary care as a Community Staff Nurse and Out of Hours Community Nurse Practitioner, contributing to the development of the Borders Emergency Care Service (BECS). Subsequent agency contracts included placements in Guernsey (Emergency and Stroke Rehabilitation) and Shetland (Emergency and remote island cover).
Further roles included healthcare provision at Saughton Prison, where I led training for new nurses and promoted clinical governance. After relocating to Orkney, I undertook Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP) training, completing a Postgraduate Certificate in Unscheduled Care. My responsibilities included GP sessions, district nursing, and 24/7 emergency cover.
Returning to Edinburgh, I worked as an Emergency Nurse Practitioner, completing V300 prescribing and advanced training in Minor Injuries and Telephone Triage. I later became Lead ANP at Niddrie Medical Practice, expanding the ANP team and service delivery. Since 2021, I have worked as a self-employed Locum ANP across the UK, combining face-to-face and remote consultations with GP practices and OOH providers.
Professional Development
I maintain my professional development and HCPC standards by attending relevant training which has included a Postgraduate Certificate in Unscheduled Care; V300 Non-Medical Prescribing; advanced training in Minor Injuries, Telephone Triage, and remote healthcare.
Medico Legal Experience
I accept instructions from both claimant and defendant solicitors and insurers. I have undergone formal training in the medico-legal process and am fully aware of my responsibilities under Civil Procedure Rules (CPR) pertaining to expert witnesses.
