Professional Experience
I am a qualified midwife with extensive experience in both community and intrapartum care across a range of clinical settings, including home births, stand-alone birth centres, and high-risk labour wards. My career in healthcare began in 1994 as a Registered General Nurse. In 1999, I qualified as a midwife and commenced work in a busy hospital maternity unit, gaining experience across antenatal, labour, theatre, and postnatal wards.
Since 2004, I have practised as a community midwife, delivering antenatal, postnatal, and intrapartum care, including home births. My approach is grounded in evidence-based practice, with a particular focus on physiological birth and continuity of care. I also have substantial experience in safeguarding, working in an area with a high volume of child protection cases. I have served as a safeguarding link midwife for several years, working closely with the safeguarding lead and the multi-agency safeguarding hub. I am well-versed in safeguarding protocols, multi-agency collaboration, and risk assessment.
Professional Development
In 2017, I completed the Neonatal and Infant Physical Examination (NIPE) qualification, enabling me to conduct newborn assessments in the community. This has supported early identification of clinical concerns and reduced unnecessary hospital admissions. I maintain my professional development by attending relevant training.
Medico Legal Experience
I accept instructions from both claimant and defendant solicitors and insurers. I have undergone formal training in the medico-legal process and am fully aware of my responsibilities under Civil Procedure Rules (CPR) pertaining to expert witnesses.
