Professional Experience
I qualified from Bradford University in 1995 and have continued to work in the NHS. Since 2003, I have also undertaken work within the private sector
I currently work in private practice and within an NHS Community Service, where I am the Clinical Lead for Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy Services. In this role, I provide clinical leadership, drive service development, and offer mentorship to ensure the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based care. My areas of particular expertise include shoulder and knee conditions, as well as spinal pathologies, and I have a strong interest in chronic pain management. The majority of my work involves the clinical assessment and treatment of patients, encompassing both my own caseload and the supervision of less experienced colleagues to support their professional growth and clinical reasoning.
In recent years, my work as an Advanced Practice Physiotherapist has developed my clinical diagnostic skills and enabled me to broaden my understanding of diagnostics including blood tests and imaging for example x-rays, ultrasound scans, MRI scans and CT scans. This role has also facilitated closer working with other professional groups including GPs, orthopaedic consultants, rheumatology consultants, neurosurgery consultants and pain management consultants.
I am the Lead MSK clinician dealing with complaints and concerns within the Cambridgeshire Community Services NHS Trust. This has involved reviewing the physiotherapy records and medical notes and liaising with patients to ascertain the reason for their complaint. The role also requires the formulation of reports in conjunction with the complaints team and Chief Executive to answer the patients concerns. In cases where there has been evidence of clinical standards falling below the expected service levels then it is my responsibility to undertake root cause analysis and generate a report thereafter.
Professional Development
In 2007 I completed a Masters degree in Manipulative Physiotherapy at Brighton University.
I maintain my professional development and HCPC standards by attending relevant training.
Medico Legal Experience
I accept instructions from both claimant and defendant solicitors and insurers. I have undergone formal training in the medico-legal process and am fully aware of my responsibilities under Civil Procedure Rules (CPR) pertaining to expert witnesses. I have attended court and provided oral evidence. I am trained in both quantum and liability cases.
