Professional Experience
I qualified as a Registered Nurse in 1994 and have worked across both hospital and community settings, with a focus on District and Community Nursing. I hold a Master’s degree in District Nursing, awarded with commendation. Over the years, I have worked with diverse populations across inner-city and rural areas, managing care for patients aged 18 to over 100, including individuals with learning disabilities and complex needs. From 2015 to 2020, I managed multiple District Nursing teams before progressing to the role of Head of Quality and Performance in 2020. I was awarded Queen’s Nurse status in 2021 and appointed as a Specialist Advisor to the Care Quality Commission (CQC) in 2022. I maintain my clinical competence through bank shifts in district nursing.
In my current role, I oversee activities relating to quality assurance, patient safety, clinical audit, CQC readiness, risk management, and performance reporting. I lead investigations into serious incidents, complaints, and safeguarding concerns, ensuring lessons learned are translated into actionable improvements. I conduct peer reviews of clinical documentation, identify trends, and implement corrective measures to maintain high standards of care. As a trained After-Action Reviewer, I critically analyse patient records to assess avoidability and inform senior management discussions. I regularly review clinical reports for accuracy and compliance, ensuring alignment with current regulations and standards. I also manage complaint investigations, providing feedback to both patients and staff to support resolution and improve practice.
Professional Development
I maintain my professional development by attending training events including conferences and workshops.
Medico Legal Experience
I accept instructions from both claimant and defendant solicitors and insurers. I have undergone formal training in the medico-legal process and am fully aware of my responsibilities under Civil Procedure Rules (CPR) pertaining to expert witnesses.
