Professional Experience

I am an Occupational Therapist, who has been a practising clinician since qualification in 1999. I have extensive experience of working in the field of physical and sensory rehabilitation within spinal injuries, amputees, older persons rehabilitation and visual impairment. In addition my current role supports those in the stages of palliative and end of life care.

I am currently employed as a senior therapist within a community therapy team in the South West of England. Within this role I provide assessment, clinical interventions and care planning for adult clients, many of which present with complex long term conditions.

My role includes detailed assessment of function within home and community environments, identification of care needs, assessment and treatment of physical and cognitive impairments and equipment recommendation and provision.

In addition, I have experience of case management consultancy. Within this role I provided assessment, liaison and co-ordination of care and rehabilitation packages for clients with complex neurological presentations.

I have specialist training and clinical interest in visual impairment conditions including glaucoma, cataract, macular degeneration and visual field deficits.

Professional Development

I maintain my professional development and HCPC standards by attending relevant training, keeping updated with professional journals, and attending regular peer supervision and conferences.

Medico Legal Experience

I joined Somek and Associates in 2011 and accept instructions from both Claimant and Defendant Solicitors and Insurers. I have undergone formal training in the medico-legal process and am fully aware of my responsibilities under the Civil Procedure Rules (CPR) pertaining to Expert Witnesses.
