Professional Experience
I qualified with a BSc Honours degree in Prosthetics and Orthotics in 1995.
I have worked in general NHS orthotic clinics gaining a breadth of experience. Since qualifying I have developed special interests in several areas of orthotic practice, paediatric neurological assessment and provision, diabetic foot care, adult neurological assessment and provision, and the impact of different pathologies and traumatic orthopaedic injuries on posture and gait.
I have conducted training in these areas for professionals that refer patients: paediatric physiotherapists; podiatrists, and physiotherapists treating adults with neurological conditions. These training sessions were rooted in evidence-based practice and often presented with an ‘experiential training’ approach, which helped convey the pertinent points of the session and the importance of robust clinical reasoning.
Professional Development
Since qualifying as an orthotist and in addition to my current senior clinical role, I have undertaken two further post graduate degrees. I continue to attend relevant courses, to maintain my clinical expertise, HCPC standards and currency.
Medico Legal Experience
I accept instructions from both claimant and defendant solicitors and insurers. I have undergone formal training in the medico-legal process and am fully aware of my responsibilities under Civil Procedure Rules (CPR) pertaining to expert witnesses. I am trained in both quantum and liability cases.
