Professional Experience
I am a Senior Advanced Neonatal Nurse Practitioner with over three decades of clinical experience. I qualified as a Registered General Nurse in 1991 and as a Registered Sick Children’s Nurse in 1994. My career spans Adult, Paediatric, and Neonatal care, with a primary focus on Neonatology.
I work in high-acuity Neonatal Intensive Care Units (NICUs), managing critically ill and premature infants, including those born at the threshold of viability. I routinely attend high-risk deliveries and provide advanced life-saving interventions and complex ventilatory support. My scope of practice includes responsibilities typically undertaken by medical professionals, functioning autonomously in an advanced clinical role. My clinical competencies include independent assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and procedural interventions aligned with neonatal medicine. I have developed specialist expertise in neonatal ear splinting, offering a rare and effective intervention for congenital ear anomalies, which I continue to deliver in both clinical and private settings.
My experience includes senior managerial roles within both NHS and military healthcare systems, contributing to service development, clinical governance, and workforce leadership.
Professional Development
I am trained in Adult, Paediatric, and Neonatal nursing, with advanced qualifications supporting my extended scope of practice. I maintain active registration and compliance with professional standards and continue to work in a tertiary-level NICU to ensure my practice remains current and evidence-based. My leadership experience includes mentoring junior staff, implementing clinical protocols, and contributing to multidisciplinary education.
Medico Legal Experience
I accept instructions from both claimant and defendant solicitors and insurers. I have undergone formal training in the medico-legal process and am fully aware of my responsibilities under Civil Procedure Rules (CPR) pertaining to expert witnesses.
