Professional Experience

Since qualifying with a Bachelor of Nursing (Hons) from The University of Manchester in 2006, I have built a robust clinical career across community and general practice settings. I began as a community nurse within a district nursing team, where I gained extensive experience in wound care and managing the needs of housebound patients. I also mentored nursing students in practice, having obtained a formal mentorship qualification.

In 2014, I transitioned into general practice as a practice nurse, where I developed expertise in chronic disease management, immunisations for all age groups, and family planning services. I later trained in minor illness management and telephone triage, leading daily triage clinics. These skills enabled me to progress into an Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP) role, where I now independently assess, diagnose, and treat patients aged twelve months and above. My clinical interests include women’s health and dermatology. To support autonomous practice, I completed a Master’s degree in Advanced Clinical Practice, which included the Non-Medical Prescribing (NMP) qualification. This has enabled me to manage a wide range of clinical presentations independently and prescribe appropriately within my scope of practice.

I also conduct weekly visits to a residential care home, providing medical treatment and supporting staff in delivering holistic care to residents with complex physical and mental health needs.

Professional Development

I work within a team of experienced ANPs, supported by weekly clinical supervision meetings with our GP team lead. These sessions focus on training, reflective practice, and significant event analysis, ensuring continuous quality improvement and benchmarking.
I am actively involved in clinical research as the lead ANP in our practice-based research team. I have completed the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) Good Clinical Practice (GCP) training, which qualifies me to participate in and support clinical research initiatives within primary care. This role has enhanced my understanding of research governance, protocol adherence, and ethical standards in clinical trials. To maintain my professional development I attend relevant training.

Medico Legal Experience

I accept instructions from both claimant and defendant solicitors and insurers. I have undergone formal training in the medico-legal process and am fully aware of my responsibilities under Civil Procedure Rules (CPR) pertaining to expert witnesses.
