Professional Experience

Since qualifying as a Registered Midwife in 2013, I have practised across all areas of midwifery, with a current role as a rotational midwife providing antenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal care. My previous position as an intrapartum core midwife involved managing both high- and low-risk pregnancies, including care in theatre for instrumental deliveries and caesarean sections. I am trained to scrub in emergency surgical procedures and have provided care during complex scenarios such as shoulder dystocia and neonatal resuscitation outside of hospital settings.

I have also worked within a core antenatal team, where responsibilities included triage (telephone and face-to-face), managing inductions of labour, and caring for high-risk antenatal patients. Additionally, I have delivered bereavement care for women undergoing medical terminations and those experiencing stillbirths, ensuring compassionate and clinically sound support during highly sensitive circumstances. Alongside my clinical roles, I served as a midwifery advisor for a pregnancy advice line, operating within the South East Coast Ambulance call centre. This role required rapid assessment and decision-making under pressure, including taking over maternity-related 999 calls. I am trained in the use of the Manchester Triage System, which I applied to assess and prioritise cases effectively.

Professional Development

Following a Care Quality Commission (CQC) visit, I conducted a clinical audit focused on the efficiency of maternity triage, evaluating timeframes from patient arrival to admission or discharge. This audit contributed to service improvement and compliance with regulatory standards. I maintain my professional development by attending relevant training.

Medico Legal Experience

I accept instructions from both claimant and defendant solicitors and insurers. I have undergone formal training in the medico-legal process and am fully aware of my responsibilities under Civil Procedure Rules (CPR) pertaining to expert witnesses.
