Professional Experience
I qualified as a Registered Nurse in 1985 and worked full-time in the NHS until March 2018. My clinical background is in neurosciences, with a particular focus on neurosurgery across both ward and critical care settings. I have held a range of senior roles including Clinical Nurse, Ward Manager, Matron, and Senior Nurse.
Since January 2019, I have returned to clinical practice as a bank nurse at the Royal Free Hospital, working across multiple specialties and wards. I also regularly work in the Planned Investigation and Therapy Unit, administering specialist infusions for neurology, gastroenterology, and rheumatology patients, and in the ophthalmology day surgery unit, providing pre- and post-operative care. Additionally, I work as an agency nurse delivering flu vaccinations in commercial settings.
As a Senior Nurse, I led investigations into complaints, personnel issues, safeguarding concerns, and serious incidents, including falls, pressure damage, and medication errors. I have experience in compiling structured reports with clear conclusions and recommendations, and have presented evidence as a factual witness at Coroner’s Court, Employment Tribunals, and NMC hearings.
Professional Development
Throughout my career, I have gained post-registration qualifications in neurosciences and developed expertise in clinical governance, incident investigation, and staff development. My current clinical roles require adaptability and up-to-date knowledge across a wide range of specialties. I maintain my professional development by attending relevant training.
Medico Legal Experience
I accept instructions from both claimant and defendant solicitors and insurers. I have undergone formal training in the medico-legal process and am fully aware of my responsibilities under Civil Procedure Rules (CPR) pertaining to expert witnesses.
