Professional Experience
I am a Tissue Viability Nurse Lead and Senior Infection Prevention and Control Nurse with many years of clinical experience across primary, secondary, and residential care settings. Since qualifying as a Registered Nurse in 2005 at the University of Salford, I have held senior posts within the NHS, specialising in the prevention and management of pressure ulcers, leg ulceration, hard-to-heal wounds, and complex wound care. I currently lead on clinical audit and service improvement initiatives aimed at reducing pressure ulcer incidence, and I provide expert clinical input across multiple care environments. In addition to my clinical responsibilities, I deliver staff training in pressure ulcer prevention and wound management. I have presented at regional, national and international events and contributed to national guidance to improve the prevention and management of pressure ulcers through working alongside Healthcare Improvement Scotland.
Professional Development
I qualified as a Specialist District Nurse Practitioner (BSc Hons) in 2012 at the University of Bolton and completed an MSc module in Tissue Viability at the University of Huddersfield in 2018. I am also a qualified Non-Medical Prescriber and Clinical Practice Teacher. These qualifications support my ability to assess, manage and prescribe for patients with complex wounds, and to deliver evidence-based education across clinical teams. My training ensures a high standard of clinical decision-making, combined with up-to-date knowledge of current policy and best practice in wound care.
Medico Legal Experience
I accept instructions from both claimant and defendant solicitors and insurers. I have undergone formal training in the medico-legal process and am fully aware of my responsibilities under Civil Procedure Rules (CPR) pertaining to expert witnesses. I am trained in both quantum and liability cases.
