Professional Experience
I qualified as an Occupational Therapist in 2006, and since then I have worked in a variety of adult clinical settings and treated people of all ages, with a range of conditions, in the areas of trauma, orthopaedics, lower limb amputations, stroke, Parkinson's disease, sight impairments, cardiology, neurology, chronic fatigue syndrome, and general medicine and surgery.
In 2016, I left the NHS to practise privately. I undertake work on a private basis for clients who have sustained catastrophic personal injuries such as orthopaedic injuries, lower limb amputations or crush injuries as a result of road traffic accidents, medical negligence or accidents in the workplace. I have prepared a large number of reports for private clients to date, including recommendations for major adaptations, equipment, work place assessments and ongoing rehabilitation packages to maximise the client’s return to independence and inclusion in pre-injury activities.
Since 2022, I have also worked part-time as an Associate Trainer for Somek & Associates, assisting with quality assurance on all stages of the medicolegal process, including delivering training packages, and recruitment of new experts.
Prior to 2016, I was the lead therapist for the Elderly Medicine Team in Derby, my role involved the implementation of falls management and prevention strategies and training. I was also a manual handling trainer for the Trust. I provided occupational therapy interventions for patients with a variety of long and short term conditions including diabetes, respiratory conditions, gastroenterology patients and those with stomas. I have a wide knowledge base and a thorough understanding of the effects of pain, illness and disability on quality of life.
Professional Development
I maintain my professional development and HCPC standards by attending relevant training.
Medico Legal Experience
I accept instruction from both claimant and defendant solicitors and insurers. I have undergone formal training in the medico-legal process and am fully aware of my responsibilities under Civil Procedure Rules (CPR) pertaining to expert witnesses.
