Professional Experience

I work as a clinical specialist within a regional neurosciences centre and the largest major trauma centre in Europe. I have extensive experience in neurological trauma, particularly brain injuries. My role involves working with those with severe and complex brain injuries from prolonged disorder of consciousness through to the "walking wounded" within the acute neurosurgical ward and the in the neurorehabilitation unit. I lead a team of occupational therapists working in neurotrauma, neurosurgery, neurology, trauma and orthopaedics. I regularly lead on complex case discussions, including leading complex mental capacity assessments and providing teaching on MCA.

I have experience in upper limb rehabilitation, splinting, postural management, seating and visual and perceptual dysfunction. However, my passion is cognition and regularly provide teaching on post traumatic amnesia and cognitive dysfunction.

In a previous role as the clinical specialist on the neurorehabilitation unit, I lead on complex assessments, interventions and discharge planning for those individuals with high cognitive and behavioural needs. I provide support and clinical guidance to the occupational therapy team and wider multidisciplinary team.

Professional Development

I maintain my professional development and HCPC standards by attending relevant training.

Medico Legal Experience

I accept instructions from both claimant and defendant solicitors and insurers. I have undergone formal training in the medico-legal process and am fully aware of my responsibilities under Civil Procedure Rules (CPR) pertaining to expert witnesses.
