Professional Experience
I qualified as an adult registered nurse in January 2006 and have worked continuously within the NHS across multiple Trusts. My clinical background spans emergency GP admissions, care of the elderly, cognitively impaired patients, diabetes management, and complex co-morbidities. I progressed from staff nurse to senior ward manager before specialising in tissue viability in 2011.
Since then, I have held senior roles in tissue viability across acute hospitals and community services. I currently serve as a Nurse Consultant in Tissue Viability at a large teaching hospital. My responsibilities include clinical review and management of complex wounds—such as surgical dehiscence, malignant wounds, leg ulcers, lymphoedema, and chronic non-healing wounds—across inpatient, outpatient, virtual ward, and community settings. I lead on pressure ulcer prevention and investigation, and provide expert input across specialities including plastics, vascular, orthopaedics, oncology, and general surgery.
I manage a specialist clinical team and act as the Trust lead for wound-related incidents, complaints, safeguarding reviews, and coroners’ cases. I also contribute to strategic planning within the local Integrated Care System, support service development, and collaborate on research initiatives.
Professional Development
I hold a Master of Science in Tissue Viability and Skin Integrity (2014) and a PGCE Level 4 in University Teaching (2016). These qualifications enabled me to teach full-time for 18 months at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in nursing and allied health disciplines. I continue to support academic programmes as an honorary lecturer.
My clinical and academic expertise is underpinned by ongoing involvement in service improvement, multidisciplinary education, and research. I regularly contribute to strategic projects and service evaluations, ensuring evidence-based practice and innovation in wound care delivery.
Medico Legal Experience
I accept instructions from both claimant and defendant solicitors and insurers. I have undergone formal training in the medico-legal process and am fully aware of my responsibilities under Civil Procedure Rules (CPR) pertaining to expert witnesses.
I am trained in both quantum and liability cases.
As the Trust lead for wound-related legal matters, I provide expert input into coroners’ cases, complaints, and litigation. My experience includes preparing detailed reports, attending case reviews, and offering clinical insight into causation, prognosis, and standards of care.
