Professional Experience
I qualified as a Registered Midwife in 2009 from City University of London. Since then, I have amassed extensive clinical experience across NHS trusts, private hospitals, and community settings, managing: high-risk pregnancies, obstetric emergencies, neonatal resuscitation, fetal monitoring, epidural care, waterbirth and midwife led care.
Through working in maternity triage, I have experience in the assessment and management of presentations such as obstetric cholestasis, hypertension, reduced fetal movements, the onset of labour and support in labour and birth. I led the implementation of the National Bereavement Pathway within a private healthcare setting, elevating standards of care for families experiencing pregnancy loss. I have provided antenatal and postnatal care in the community, including all aspects of maternal and foetal observations to ensure wellbeing.
In my role as Patient Safety Midwife, I completed Root Cause Analysis training and spearheaded investigations into serious incidents, overseen Avoid Term Admissions into the Neonatal Unit and Perinatal Mortality Review Tool (PMRT) initiatives. I have also supported the rollout of the Patient Safety Incident Response Framework (PSIRF) within maternity.
I continue to work clinically (two long day clinical shifts per month) in both obstetric and midwifery-led environments, combining frontline practice with mentoring of staff to uphold clinical excellence and foster professional development.
Professional Development
In my role as a Practice Development Midwife, I designed and delivered structured training programmes on foetal monitoring for midwives and medical staff. These covered interpretation of foetal heart rate patterns, intrapartum auscultation, and recognition of deviations from normality. I have led high-fidelity simulation training for obstetric and neonatal emergencies in both UK and international settings. Completing a MSc Global Maternal Health, I have authored and overseen clinical policies to ensure compliance with national standards and best practice.
Medico Legal Experience
I accept instructions from both claimant and defendant solicitors and insurers. I have undergone formal training in the medico-legal process and am fully aware of my responsibilities under Civil Procedure Rules (CPR) pertaining to expert witnesses.
