Professional Experience

I qualified as a registered midwife in 2009, following initial training and practice as an adult nurse from 2005. Since qualifying, I have worked primarily on Delivery Suite, managing complex and high-risk cases including pre-eclampsia, sepsis, antepartum and postpartum haemorrhage, and premature labour. My clinical competencies include cannulation, suturing, catheterisation, and medication administration. I have extensive experience in triage, induction of labour, safeguarding, bereavement care, intrauterine transfer, and labour management.

Since 2018, I have held the role of Delivery Suite Team Leader, where I routinely lead obstetric emergencies such as cord prolapse, breech presentation, and shoulder dystocia. I work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to assess risk, formulate care plans, and manage escalation across the maternity unit, particularly during out-of-hours periods when I am often the senior clinician on site.

Professional Development

I have completed an enhanced maternity course to support care of high-risk patients and regularly attend PROMPT training to maintain emergency response proficiency. I am trained in the Birmingham Symptom Specific Obstetric Triage System (BSOTS), which supports safe and efficient triage management. I have advanced skills in fetal monitoring and CTG interpretation, supported by attendance at a CTG masterclass and annual study days. I hold the ‘Supporting Learning and Assessment in Practice’ (SLAiP) qualification, enabling me to mentor student midwives and support newly qualified and internationally trained staff. I am experienced in clinical supervision and workforce development, with a focus on competence, accountability, and safe practice.

Medico Legal Experience

I hold a Master of Laws (LLM) in Medical Law and Ethics, which has strengthened my understanding of legal principles relevant to clinical practice, including consent, capacity, and duty of care.

I accept instructions from both claimant and defendant solicitors and insurers. I have undergone formal training in the medico-legal process and am fully aware of my responsibilities under Civil Procedure Rules (CPR) pertaining to expert witnesses.
